Any name works
The pill says Enter anime name and it means any of them: Sousou no Frieren and Frieren both open the same page, and so do Shingeki no Kyojin, AOT and Attack on Titan. The Japanese title in its own script works, the shorthand works, JJK, MHA, SxF, HxH, and words like "watch", "online", "sub", "dub", "episode" and "9animetv" are stripped before the search runs, so a phrase pasted from a search engine finds the series.
Quick filter
The sidebar's Quick filter is the old site's, rebuilt: genre, year, type, status, language and sort, with a search box under them and a purple Filter button. It opens the search page with those filters set, and the page adds country and a minimum rating. Status is the filter anime fans use most, because ongoing and finished are different commitments.
Names and studios
Type a voice actor, a director or a studio, MAPPA, ufotable, Kyoto Animation, and their series line up; every name on an anime page is a link that runs the same search. Type a genre word and the search treats it as a genre; type "chinese" and it narrows to the donghua.
From a remote
On a television, the search pill accepts the on-screen keyboard, and the voice button on most remotes types into it. Short names are quicker than long ones: "jjk" finds Jujutsu Kaisen; "one piece 1100" finds the episode. The A-Z list is the other way in when spelling is the problem.
